ccTLD DNS Name Server Status

Introduction

This page presents a comprehensive status listing of the ccTLD name servers which are published in the '.' (root) DNS zone. The status is updated every 12 hours (see timestamp below), the following checks are performed:

Check each published name server for SOA data and aa flag Any lack of authority or query timeout will note the server as lame.
Check for recursion available flag (ra) - if found it is noted.

As such, this page can be used in diagnosing problems with ccTLD name servers and analyze trends. I am endeavouring to do this, and a comprehensive analysis of each ccTLD can be found here (completed 12/09/2003).

Additionally, I have used a similar check script to determine the zone update frequency of certain ccTLDs.

In order to reduce errors and keep this process open, I am making the check script publicly available. If you have corrections or comments feel free to email them to cctld-project@credentia.cc.

This updating report has been suspended.
However the data is still available ranging from 2003-10-19 to 2005-06-17.
