DNS

This section provides pointers to a useful list of resources that can be used in diagnosis DNS problems, including delegation, security (recursion), and RFC compliance of DNS zones and records.

Exim

This is a presentation about the Exim Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) put together for the local Seattle BSD Users Group and presented in March 2004. The focus of the presentation is on Exim v4.x running on FreeBSD. The topics covered are: Spam control using DNSBL, Exiscan-acl, SpamAssassin and SPF Virus-rejection, SMTP AUTH mechanisms, STARTTLS and certificate verification.

SPF (Sender Policy Framework)

Prepared for GSLUG in April 2004 but never given, this talk explains the what, why and how of SPF. (This was before Microsoft essentially spoiled the whole idea) The topics covered are: SPF record formats. Email headers and log entry examples. Integration with Mail::SPF::Query and Exim4. Related systems (Caller-ID). Mitigation of phishing scams and joe-jobs.
